Seaworld San Diego

GeoTagged, [N33.23675, E117.14380]

Imagine someone built an aquarium, threw in some rides and then charged $100 (+ CA tax) and called it Seaworld San Diego.
Then imagine it was awesome!
We rocked up at opening time to find 100 cars already in the queues. Forget about public transport, this is Southern California.
Once quickly inside thanks to Jackie's Internet tickets, we wandered aimlessly until we found a queue of about 10 people with a sign "dolphin feeding $6". One doesn't expect much for $6 unless it's a kids meal but we got to pat and feed a dolphin at the side of the pool.
We thought that was pretty cool. And later fed some bat rays and sea lions.

We saw both major shows - the killer whale show "believe" which makes one cry clap and cheer at the same time and the cirque de sole like dolphin show in which a pod of dolphins, 2 pilot whales and a few birds show off while some gymnasts gyrate and some divers - you know, jump into the water.
Did the rides. One was a fair dinkum adult one which included a 60 foot drop into water. All the kids went on and then Declan and Kobe wanted to go again. Declan wanted to be in front.
I saw a CHiPs patrolman pull someone over on the freeway this morning. I can only imagine it was for NOT traveling 10 MPH over the speed limit.
Drove past Miramar and saw a jet land but Jackie won't let me go visit. She doesn't believe I'm in the top 1% of naval aviators...
Ate dinner in a restaurant that advertised wood fired pizza but only had 3 types on the menu...
Still haven't met anyone rude. Is it just SoCal?
Loving the holiday, loving the weather - 26c everyday. Tomorrow is our last day here though before we drive to Phoenix on Sunday.

Night all

Marshall and Jackie, Ezra, Kobe, Declan and Shamu the Killer Whale.

What's SoCal? Drive safely. I told Nan you'll all be at the Grand Canyon on Monday and she's pretty excited the boys are in America. Glad you're having a good time. Love to everyone. xxx

TopGun moved to Nevada a few years ago. Miramar is now a Marine Corps Air Station. Still cool though. :)

Magnificent Orca. Did you take the photo? Up close and personal with a dolphin. Mind-blowing. Do CHiPs really ride around on HDs?
